Bati mystery man - a mysterious creature from the island of Seram

On the island of Seram, Ambon, according to local legend, there lived a mysterious creature living in the mountains in the region Kairatu. Like a human body, wings and likes to kidnap a child at night to eat it. The creature called Orang Bati.


Actually been since two months ago when I was asked to write about monsters from Indonesia. Recently when I returned was asked to write a mystery story in Indonesia, I think the initial request.

Did you know that it really is very difficult to write about the mysteries of Indonesia, especially on the monster-monster? I'll explain why.

If the Americans found a strange dog like Shunka Warak'in I wrote about earlier, then the American people will call it a new breed or a dog ancient surviving. However, if a dog like that found in Indonesia, the population will call incarnation phantom dog.

In Indonesia, all the strange creatures and mysterious manifestations are always associated with evil spirits. I do not deny the existence of the devil incarnate beings or manifestations of such black Jenglot Sciences, but this generalization led Indonesia cryptid creatures become undocumented and forgotten.

So I am having trouble finding monsters that Indonesia actually recognized as Cryptid by the international community.

In my opinion, this phenomenon may not only because of cultural superstition is entrenched in Indonesia, but perhaps because there is no Cryptozoology experts from Indonesia (or maybe already there, I just do not know). In fact, from Sabang to Merauke, I'm sure there are many who Cryptid waiting to be discovered.

Fortunately there are several international researchers interested in the mysterious creatures of Indonesia. They tend to be more rational to attribute these creatures with Cryptozoology, not by the things that smelled of mystical.

For example, Cryptid Indonesia's most prominent in the world is a creature called "Short People", short-bodied creatures that live monkey in the province of Jambi. Short people into the ranks of world-class Cryptid for one service, Deborah Martyr, an Englishman.

Monster that I want to tell this is a Bati man. The story Bati international attention after a man named Karl Shuker (also foreigners) poured his story in a book titled "Is Batman alive and well and living on the island of creepy?".

This monster is often associated with Mothman. If Karl Shuker called Batman, then some other researchers call this creature Mothman Indonesia. Here's her story:

In 1987, a British missionary named Tyson Hughes started his work stayed for 18 months in the Moluccas to teach residents how to grow crops efficiently. Some experts believe that Cryptozoology is a Pterodactyl Bati man who still lives in this modern age. But the most popular theory is the theory of a giant bat. The possibility of the population saw a giant bat-eating monkeys and one identifies. Theory of giant bats are also often associated with the Mothman in America.

Once again, There is no physical evidence to show that these creatures have lived on the island of Seram. Yet somehow, this legend lived on for centuries. But I'm not too surprised. We also do not have physical evidence of the Lochness Nessie, Bigfoot or Mothman from America.

Or maybe the Bati ... The true incarnation of phantom ...
